The W25Q256JV (256M-bit) Serial Flash memory provides a storage solution for systems with limited space, pins, and power. The 25Q series offers flexibility and performance beyond ordinary Serial Flash devices. They are ideal for:
-
code shadowing to RAM,
-
executing code directly from Dual/Quad SPI (XIP),
-
and storing voice, text, and data.
The device runs from a single 2.7V–3.6V power supply, with current consumption as low as 1μA in power-down mode. All devices are offered in space-saving packages.
The memory array is organized into 131,072 pages of 256 bytes each. Up to 256 bytes can be programmed at once.
Erase options:
-
4KB sectors (16 pages),
-
32KB blocks (128 pages),
-
64KB blocks (256 pages),
-
or full chip erase.
In total: 8,192 erasable sectors and 512 erasable blocks.
The small 4KB sectors give high flexibility for parameter/data storage.
The W25Q256JV supports:
-
standard SPI,
-
Dual SPI,
-
Quad SPI,
with clock rates up to 133MHz. This equals: -
266MHz (Dual I/O)
-
532MHz (Quad I/O)
when using Fast Read mode — faster than many asynchronous parallel Flash devices.
Additional features include:
-
JEDEC ID + SFDP register,
-
64-bit unique serial number,
-
three 256-byte security registers.
