L78M00 Series – Positive Voltage Regulators

Description:
The L78M00 series consists of three-terminal linear positive voltage regulators, available in TO-220, ISOWATT220, SOT-82, SOT-194, and DPAK packages. These regulators are offered with fixed output voltages of 5V, 6V, 8V, 9V, 10V, 12V, 15V, 18V, 20V, and 24V, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.

They are ideal for on-board local regulation, which helps eliminate issues related to power distribution from a single regulation point. Each regulator includes internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe-area protection for the output transistor, making them virtually indestructible under overload conditions.

When properly heat-sinked, these devices can supply more than 0.5A of output current. Though designed for fixed voltage regulation, they can be configured for adjustable voltage or current regulation using external components.
